Son Surf School Strand was established in August 2003 and since then our reputation and experience is unsurpassed in the area – bringing the joy of surfing to countless men and women of all ages. We are a family-owned business and our motto of ‘Fun. Safety. Respect’ carries much of our heart for our customers.

Son Surf School owner Mikhail Thompson has over 29 years of surfing experience, including competitive surfing on a national level, and has been coaching surfing for 17 years. He is actively involved in the day-to-day running of the surf school, alongside his wife Inge, and is passionate about establishing surfing as a positive lifestyle for all.

Conveniently located about 25 mins from Cape Town International Airport, 15 mins from Stellenbosch and 1 hour from Hermanus, Son Surf School Strand is ideal for traveller and local alike.

We are blessed with our premises on Strand Beach Road, ensuring close proximity to the beach and main surfing area.
